European Central Bank advances Digital Euro pilot phase

The European Central Bank (ECB) has announced the next stage of its Digital Euro pilot. Starting next month, selected banks in France, Germany, and Spain will begin testing consumer-facing transactions using the CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency).
The focus is on privacy and offline capability, ensuring the digital currency can function like cash even without internet connectivity. Full rollout is tentatively targeted for 2028.
